Curriculum

At LEA our curriculum is CAPS-aligned. As an independent school, we have flexibility in terms of our delivery and structuring of the curriculum.

Foundation Phase

In the Foundation Phase (Grades 1-3), we have a hands-on approach to learning, where our classes learn through doing and through play. This is combined with workbook activities, catering for learners with different learning styles. Assessment is continuous, and learners in this phase do not write formal tests that they need to prepare for.

Intermediate and Senior Phase

In the Intermediate and Senior Phases, there is a focus on learning through self-discovery. This may include project-based learning or research activities, building critical thinking, problem-solving and collaborative learning skills.

The Intermediate Phase (Grades 4-6) is introduced to formal assessments in the form of quizzes. In the Senior Phase (Grades 7-9), tests are written, as well as biannual exams. This is in preparation for the FET Phase.

Further Education & Training Phase

In the FET phase (Grades 10-12), learners choose their specific learning subjects and follow the structure of the CAPS curriculum. These years are crucial in preparing for writing the National Senior Certificate in Grade 12. Our subjects on offer are:
